MPP Mitzie Hunter "Lets Get Rid of Gun Violence Once and For All"

Dear Friends,

I don't need to remind you of the challenges that Ontarians face every day under Premier Doug For and his Conservative government. One of those challenges is the lack of action to address the increase of gun violence in our streets and the long-lasting impact it has on people, families, and communities.

I've talked to parents and community members that are concerned and have been directly impacted by gun violence in their neighborhoods. They want change. That's earlier this year, I introduced a private members bill, Safe and Healthy Communities Act (Addressing Gun Violence), 2019 which:

1. Declares gun violence as a public health issue.
2. Allows for counselling services for survivors of gun violence to be covered by OHIP
3. Allows Boards of Health to develop programs and services for reducing gun violence.

It's time to get it passed.

We need government that will increase social economic opportunities in low income communities by investing in youth training, employment, mental health and access to post-secondary education which will lead to better outcomes for young people.

Ontario is ready for a leader who is not afraid to make the tough decisions, a leader with a modem and inclusive vision, someone ready to take on the Ford Conservatives and win.

The time is now.

If you believe like me that gun violence must end and that together we can make it happen, here's how you can take a stand today.

1. Sign up now and become a member of the party Sign up now and become a member of the party
Don't wait. The deadline to become a member is December 2, 2019 at 6 p.m. Only party member can vote for the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.
Don't forget. Remember to ask your family and friends to join too and encourage them to tell 5 other people to do the same.

2. Donate to my campaign
Every dollar donated to my campaign helps me to keep fighting for a stronger Ontario.

I'll be tackling the topic of gun violence in our communities on Wednesday, November 13th at 9:30 a.m. at Queen's Park.
